As part of our strategic commitment to improving our overall effectiveness, we are introducing the “HR Series – Tips for Improved Team Productivity”. We believe that this initiative will drive team effectiveness and acculturation in Heirs Place.
Our focus drive for February 2023 is tagged “Improving Responsiveness from Line Managers”.
Responsiveness is a critical element for leadership and execution. Whenever we fail to respond in a timely manner, we misrepresent our culture and inadvertently make it difficult for Direct Reports to deliver their tasks and responsibilities.
In view of this, we would recommend the following tips to improve responsiveness within your respective teams:
- Establish weekly or biweekly meetings with direct reports where reports are made, and direct feedback is received.
- Consider setting calendar times to address emails and requests from Direct Reports.
- Subscribe to coaching. During coaching sessions, outstanding items can be addressed, and decisions are taken quickly.
- Engage Direct Reports during team meetings and set rules of engagement regarding emails and set times for follow-up meetings.
The steps above are not exhaustive. We encourage you to develop creative approaches for improving responsiveness within your teams. Greater responsiveness will not only improve your speed to execution, but it will also create a sense of fulfillment within your teams as our colleagues will feel more valued and involved.
